Kyoto is Japan's cultural heart, and its two iconic seasons are sakura (late March-early April) and autumn leaves (mid-late November). Both are breathtaking and crowded. Fushimi Inari's thousand torii gates and the golden light of Kinkaku-ji shine in every season.
